Handmade Handbags, Crafted in the Heart of Yorkshire
There is something quietly extraordinary about a handbag made entirely by hand.
At Umpie Handbags, every piece begins as a length of exceptional fabric — Harris Tweed woven in the Scottish Hebrides, Kilim print from ancient weaving traditions, or the iconic florals of William Morris, reimagined for a bag you'll carry every day. Each fabric has a story before it even reaches my Yorkshire studio.
Once it arrives, I cut, stitch, and finish every bag myself. No production line. No shortcuts. Just my hands, my craft, and my eye for what makes a bag truly special.
Why handmade matters
A handmade handbag isn't just a purchase — it's a choice. A choice to own something individual, something made with care, something that won't look like everyone else's. Every Umpie bag is one of a kind, and that's not a marketing phrase — it's simply the nature of how they're made.
Heritage fabrics, British made
My bags are crafted from some of Britain's most beloved heritage textiles — Harris Tweed, tartan, William Morris, Batik and Kilim — chosen for their character, their quality, and their ability to age beautifully. These are fabrics with soul, and they deserve to be made into something lasting.

Made in Yorkshire, loved for a lifetime
My studio is in Yorkshire, and that matters to me. Every bag that leaves it has been touched by my hands at every stage. When you carry an Umpie Handbag, you're carrying a piece of genuine British craft.
